AΓA CHAPTER HISTORY

Men of Brotherhood, Men of Scholarship, Men of Service, Men of Sigma

The Alpha Gamma Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated was chartered on October 7th, 1994 on the campus of Vanderbilt University, by five determined and hard working men, who with them carried a torch bearing a blue light.

The founders of the Alpha Gamma Alpha Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated are:

Andrew Adakunle Oyefesobi

Richard Anthony Mason

Terrance Elijah White

Kobie Alcolomo Huff

Antonio O’Neal Akins

Over the past 28 years, the members of AΓA have maintained the blue light first lit by these honorable men. The chapter has continued to uphold the tenets of Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service in every endeavor. On campus, the men of Sigma are renowned for their involvement. From members directing Vanderbilt’s first African American play “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf” to starting a tutoring program called F.A.S.T to creating Rhythm and Roots, the men of AΓA have accomplished anything they set their minds to on campus. These brothers have been involved in NSBE, Club Sports, Marching Band,  EWB, CSA, BSA, Resident Advisor roles, and so much more.

After graduation, the men of the AΓA Chapter have only built on their success on campus. Brothers have gone on to be famous directors (Bro. Mason Richards, Spr. '94), award-winning producers (Bro. Jamaal Finkley, Spr. '95), renowned lawyers (Bro. Kevin Jones, Spr. '95), successful consultants (Bro. Desmond Garner, Fall '13), and more.
